SEAI External Insulation Grants
If you’re thinking about improving your home’s insulation and want to know how the SEAI Insulation Grants work, you’re not alone.
Most people want answers about which types of insulation are covered, how to check if they’re eligible, how much money they can receive, and how to get through the application process quickly.
SEAI Grants give homeowners in Ireland a chance to upgrade attic, wall, or floor insulation, cutting down on heat loss, reducing energy bills, and making homes warmer and more comfortable. On top of that, you’re doing your bit for the environment and adding value to your property.
How much can I receive in SEAI grants for external wall insulation?
The grant amounts vary based on your house type:
✅Apartment or Mid-Terrace House: €3,500
✅Semi-detached or End of Terrace: €6,000
✅Detached House: €8,000
Who can apply
Properties owned by the following applicant types are eligible:
✅Owner occupiers
✅Homeowners who are in receipt of Dept. of Social Protection welfare payments
✅Companies including owner management companies
✅Registered charities
✅Holiday homes
✅Approved Housing Bodies (AHB)
✅Non private and commercial landlords of tenanted properties
The home needs to have an MPRN. It must have been built and occupied before 31 December 2010 for insulation measures.
To receive the grant, all external walls of your home must be fully insulated. This is known as a whole-surface solution. Partial insulation is not eligible, for example only insulating one or two walls. Speak with your contractor to get advice on the best option for your home.
